Hässelby Motet Choir is a parish choir in Hässelby just outside of Stockholm, Sweden. It is a mixed voice choir of around 50 singers which sings at services and gives concerts regularly. The choir is directed by Mona Ehntorp.
Swedish choir music forms the basis of our repertoire but it also includes choral works of most major composers such as W.A. Mozart, J. Brahms and J. Rutter. Recent programs have included St. Johns Passion by J.S. Bach and Messiah by G.F Handel. In the spring of 2016 we performed – the very first performance ever in Stockholm – The Peacemakers by Karl Jenkins.
Over the years we have had the opportunity to work with several well-known Swedish musicians such as Bengt Hallberg, Arne Domnérus and Monica Dominique. In 1999 our first CD was released. On this recording we work together with Swedish musicians Georg Riedel and Stefan Nilsson.
During 2013 Hässelby Motet Choir was part of a project where composer Sven-David Sandström wrote one piece of church music for every Sunday of the year. It was mostly choir music and on our second CD recording we sing a selection of this contemporary music.
Our first international tour went to Hungary in 1986. Later we have also visited Ireland, the Czech Republic, Scotland, Wales, Poland, Spain and Croatia.
